PANCHAKARMA

Panchakarma

Panchakarma is the mainstay of Ayurveda, an intense detoxification and rejuvenation therapy that helps to cleanse the body of ama (toxins) and restore the doshas to their balance: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. GAVYASIDHA offers this transformative therapy in order to heal and renew from deep within. The process begins with Purvakarma, or the preparatory phase, which involves oil massages known as Abhyanga and herbal steam therapy known as Swedana. These treatments dilute toxins within tissues and prepare the body for excretion. The oil used in the treatment of Abhyanga is medicated with herbs to improve its efficacy and therapeutic response, whereas Swedana assists in opening up pores and encouraging sweating, which further assists in detoxification.

There are five primary therapies under the umbrella of Panchakarma that aim at five major doshas or health concerns. Vamana or therapeutic vomiting is used for removing excess Kapha dosha from the body. It's effective in curing diseases like asthma, bronchitis, and obesity. Virechana, or purgation, cleans the Pitta dosha and eliminates toxins from the liver and gallbladder. Hence, it helps to cure disorders of the skin, digestive systems, and hormonal imbalances. Basti, or medicated enema, is the most important therapy for balancing Vata dosha, and it involves administering herbal decoctions or oils through the rectum to cleanse the colon and nourish the tissues. Nasya, or nasal therapy, involves administering medicated oils or powders through the nostrils to cleanse the head and neck region, making it effective for sinusitis, migraines, and neurological disorders. Raktamokshana or bloodletting is a therapy through which one may purify blood and treat blood-related disorders such as eczema, scabies, and psoriasis.

This is followed by the Paschatkarma phase, where the goal is rejuvenation and reversal. Diet and lifestyle are gradually readmitted so that there is neither the restoration of an accumulation of toxins. The effects of Panchakarma are tremendous. It is not only detoxification; it also refines digestion, bolsters immunity, and gives mental clarity. Most clients report that they feel lighter, more energetic and emotionally balanced after finishing the process. Panchakarma is performed under the hands of skilled practitioners, high-quality herbs, and oils to facilitate transformational and safe experiences here at GAVYASIDHA.
